The Vrancea County Council approved yesterday, in an ordinary meeting, the allocation of the sum of 70,140 lei net to the “AI Citizens” robotics team from the College “Al. Ioan Cuza” from Focșani, who will participate in the First Tech Challenge World Championship. The championship will take place between April 14-24, 2024, in Houston, in the United States of America. The draft decision was initiated by all the county councilors and was voted unanimously, even in the presence of the 12 students and the coordinating teachers from the “AI Citizens” robotics team.

“I want to thank you for your support in the realization of this project. We feel a strong emotion because four days away after we won this stage of the competition, we felt that the community we are part of has also mobilized very strongly and we already have the certainty that all the costs of our move to the USA, which will not be small at all , will be resolved. This result I have achieved is the fruit of five years of work. The robotics group of the College Al. Ioan Cuza was opened five years ago, we basically started with some screws and beasts that we didn’t understand anything about, and here we are after five years with an extraordinary award, a first for Vrancea county. 243 teams from all over the world will participate in this competition”said the teacher Tiberius Oprea.

team leader, Petru Stoica, he thanked the county councilors for their support and stated that the result represents a validation of the work done by the entire team during the five years of activity.

Vice Ionel the Great congratulated the members of the AI ​​Citizens robotics team and wished them success. “I congratulate you on behalf of all the county councilors and all the people of Vrâncen. Although you said you don’t want to be stars, you already are for us. We are waiting for you with outstanding results from the world championship as well!”said the vice president Ionel the Great. And the vice president Marian Oprisanas well as the county councillors Adrian Cretu and Gabriela Marchitangeneral school inspector of Vrancea county, congratulated and encouraged the members of the robotics team who put Vrancea county on the world map.

The “AI Citizens” robotics team, which will go to the World Championship in Houston, is made up of students Irina Curcă, Elisa Elena Baciu, Petru Stoica, Raul Ștefan Bușilă, Marius Bogdan Hanu, Rami Stanilă, Cosmin Daniel Lupu, Călin Matei Sandu , Ștefania Găină, Rareș Costin Constantinescu, Bianca Maria Gorgan, Tudor Deian Bernovici and tutors Tiberiu Oprea, Mihaela Victoria Oprea.
