Gândul reporters visited the construction site on Drumul Osiei in Cartierul Militari, an artery closed for rehabilitation. The sidewalks are almost finished, and in some places asphalt still needs to be poured. When the mayor of Sector 6 says that the artery will open.
The Osia Road, section 2, has taken shape, but there is still some work to be done:
- asphalt still needs to be poured;
- sidewalks must be completed;
- not all piping and cables are buried yet;
- there is still work to be done on the lighting.
On Monday, April 22, Ciprian Ciucu, the mayor of District 6, declared in the show “Cu Gândul la Bucharest” that Drumul Osiei will open “in three weeks – one month”. This means that the road could be put into use around May 15-22.
According to the representatives of the District 6 City Hall, “the rehabilitation of the road system Drumul Osiei section 2 consists of rectifications of the route in plan and longitudinal profile, rectifications of the transverse slopes, restoration of the road foundation, installation of curbs, solving the problem of water drainage, restoration of road and pedestrian surfaces, raising to the projected elevation of the carriageway of all utility covers and drains, etc.”
Section 2 of Drumul Osiei will cost 1.6 million lei
The total value of the works related to the Osiei Road – Tronson 2 is over 1.6 million lei, including VAT.
The bicycle paths will be made at the edge of the carriageway and will have a road structure similar to the carriageway.
The first section cost 7.3 million lei
The first section, 600 meters long, was completed last fall. The work cost 7.3 million lei, including VAT. Two-thirds of the cost of the project is provided by the Anghel Saligny government program.
The closure of Osiei Road created chaos in the Militari Quarter, especially on Iuliu Manu Boulevard, which is very crowded anyway.
How does mayor Ciprian Ciucu explain the fact that the artery was not built all at once.
We would have finished this section for the first time, since we also rehabilitated the first section, but there was a dispute in the area. We have been waiting for this dispute to be resolved and we are going to start work, which will start on Thursday, February 8″, Ciprian Ciucu, the mayor of Sector 6, said on February 7, for Gândul.
