A new modernized road, thanks to the contribution of the Dolj County Council

--

On March 28, a county road, subject to modernization, was inaugurated, which connects the localities of Segarcea – Drănic – Valea Stanciului with the cross-border road Romania – Bulgaria. It is an investment of over 14 million euros, divided into two almost equal programs, of about seven million euros each. The rehabilitation was made possible by access to funds by the County Council (CJ) Dolj.

The road, with a total length of 24 km, was inaugurated on March 24. It was rehabilitated and modernized with European funds. “There were extensive modernization and rehabilitation works, by accessing European funds, in the total amount of 14 million euros, on two programs, each of approximately seven million euros. They are extraordinary achievements”, he said Cosmin Vasile, president CJ Dolj. It was completed by the vice-president CJ Dolj, Anthony Solomon : “It is a pleasure to walk on the roads of the county. Many have been rehabilitated, and the programs will continue”. In turn, Nicolae Tutunaru, the mayor of Segarcea, mentioned: “The Dolj County Council made huge financial efforts to rehabilitate the roads in Dolj. In our area there were enough problems, including with the workforce, but we received support from the county authorities”.

What does the project mean?

The investment aimed at the modernization of two sections of DJ 561B Segarcea – Valea Stanciului, with a cumulative length of over 24 kilometers. With the realization of these investments, the entire road artery was modernized, given that a first section, 11 kilometers long, had been completed previously, with non-refundable funds accessed through the Operational Program for Transfrontier Cooperation Romania – Bulgaria. The general objective is to increase the degree of accessibility of a community of over 14,500 people from Dolj county to the TEN-T network, a community located in the area formed by three localities crossed by the county road DJ561B, Segarcea, Drănic and Valea Stanciului. “Today we are inaugurating yet another successfully completed investment, which was made with European funds and which involved the modernization and rehabilitation of two sections of the county road that connects Segarcea to Valea Stanciului. The works concerned the structure of the road, the restoration of bridges, footbridges, but also safety elements in traffic at the highest standards. In this way, we complete a suite of projects whose completion was marked by the inaugurations of the recent period: 70 kilometers of the Craiova – Cetate road, another 70 kilometers of DJ 561A Giurgița – Plenița – the border of Mehedinți county, the efforts financed by the National Program of Local Development 2 regarding the county road Amarăștii de Sus – Dăbuleni or the landslide area from Murgași. Overall, we can talk about approximately 300 kilometers of county roads that, in these last four years, have either been rehabilitated and modernized through projects with non-reimbursable funds, or have benefited from a new asphalt carpet, following the works carried out by the Society of Roads and Bridges, subordinated to the CJ”, added the president of the Dolj County Council, Cosmin Vasile. Within the two modernization projects of DJ 561B, carried out within the framework of Interreg VA Romania – Bulgaria, earthworks and works on the road structure were carried out, rainwater collection and routing systems were created, respectively road gutters, gutters approach, walled ditches and earth ditches. Transversal, tubular and flagstone bridges were also rehabilitated and modernized. The access points to the properties were set up in the urban areas, sidewalks, pedestrian crossings equipped with LED warning signs, with solar power, parking lots and bus stops were built. For traffic safety, directional parapets and radars were installed to measure the speed of vehicles, and resonator markings and road signs were executed and installed.
