The Chief of the Bihor Police, Quaestor Alin Hanis, declared that the traffic agents will order the detention of all drivers found behind the wheel of cars, in traffic, with high alcohol levels or under the influence of prohibited substances, reports ebihoreanul.ro

“There will be a rule: drunk and drugged drivers go to Arrest! (no – Detention and preventive detention center of IPJ Bihor)”, warned the quaestor Alin Hanis, on Tuesday, during the session of the Prefectural College.

According to the data made public by the head of the Bihor Police, last year alone, 52 people were detained for 24 hours, for similar charges, and 703 drivers caught drunk at the wheel were left without driving licenses.

“The drastic measures and the numerous actions that are taking place are intended to maintain the safety of traffic participants and to reduce the number of road accidents”, said the quaestor Alin Hanis, showing that the results of the actions are visible. “Recently, actions show that drivers are much more disciplined. The number of people found behind the wheel under the influence of drinks or prohibited substances has decreased, even on weekends or during holidays,” said the officer.

Moreover, a man from the city of Stei was detained, on Tuesday, for 24 hours after he was caught drunk and with a suspended license behind the wheel of the car, in traffic.

The car driven by the 68-year-old man from Stei was stopped by the policemen of the Beius Road Bureau on Tuesday afternoon, at 3:40 p.m., on Poet Andrei Muresanu street in Stei township. Put to blow into the breathalyzer, the device indicated an alcohol concentration of 0.71 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air. (VE)
