After the commissioning of the gas plant from Iernut, the Oltenia Energy Complex faces the possibility of remaining with only one group in operation

--

A union leader from the Oltenia Energy Complex has issued a serious warning, indicating that problems within the energy company could appear as early as this year!

Dumitru Pârvulescu, the president of the National Mine Energy Federation, warned that the start-up of the gas group from Iernut will further reduce production at the Oltenia Energy Complex.

“The start-up of the gas group from Iernut will further decrease the production at CEO. It will be ready this year. It has been working for 8 years. It was a true story, but one that is coming to an end. When the gas group there will be put into operation, my opinion is that even less electricity will be produced at the Oltenia Energy Complex”, declared Pârvulescu.

Currently, CEO power plants produce on average between 600 and 700 MW, the equivalent of two and a half groups, three groups. According to Romgaz, the company will complete the Iernut plant by December 31, 2024, marking a four-year delay in this project.

In 2016, Romgaz concluded a contract for the realization of the project of a new 430 MW gas turbine combined cycle plant in Iernut, but the project was blocked in 2019 due to the request of the builders to increase the amount.

Later, Romgaz signed a new contract for the resumption of the works with the same Spanish company, Duro Felguera, with the estimate that the works will be completed by December 2024.

The Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, confirmed that the progress of the works is ongoing and the completion of the investment is expected.
