Between 18.03.2024 and 22.03.2024, the Hunedoara Territorial Labor Inspectorate carried out the national control campaign to check how the legal provisions regarding the minimum requirements for safety and health at work are respected, as well as the conclusion and execution of individual work contracts, to employers operating in the fields “Wholesale of wood and construction materials and sanitary equipment” CAEN code 4673 and “Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products” CAEN code 23.

In the field of safety and health at work, both in the production activity and in the marketing activity, there are a number of activities with a high risk of injury and/or occupational diseases with irreversible consequences for workers, such as the risk of injury due to fires generated by non-compliant electrical installations or the lack of measures in the field of SSM, the risk of accidents due to the lack of visibility on the access roads and improper handling of forklifts, handling of heavy and very heavy masses, which lead to a series of health problems associated with pain back pain and muscle pain, as well as accidents from falling objects stored at a height, working at high or low temperatures, the risk of being hit by falling/overturning objects/wrongly stored products, the risk of electric shock, etc.

In the field of labor relations, this activity is susceptible to violation of the legal provisions regarding the employment of personnel, the submission within the legal term of individual employment contracts in the general employee record register, the duration of working time and additional work, the preparation of the record of work hours provided of employees, periodic rest (weekly rest, public holidays), night work and the granting of salary rights.

As part of this control campaign, 42 controls were carried out in the fields of labor relations and occupational safety and health, a total of 52 deficiencies were found, for which measures were ordered to remedy the non-conformities found and comply with the provisions legal.

At the same time, a total number of 36 contraventional sanctions were applied, of which 3 fines totaling 12,500 lei.

Through each control action, ITM Hunedoara aims both to increase the awareness of employers and workers regarding the need to comply with legal provisions in the fields of labor relations and those related to health and safety at work, as well as the elimination of non-conformities found, applying measures mandatory for their remedy and corresponding contraventional sanctions.
