Australian director George Miller announced on Wednesday, for Entertainment Weekly, that he is writing a new “Mad Max” adventure for Tom Hardy, which takes place a year before the events narrated in “Fury Road”, reports News.ro.
“When I was making Mad Max: Fury Road, I wrote what happened to Max in the year before I met him in (that film),” George Miller said. “We are working on it now. I wrote it as a short story and now we have the chance to turn it into a screenplay”.
Mad Max’s past is briefly hinted at at the beginning of “Fury Road”. The character is haunted by memories and ghosts from his past, including a little girl named Glory. This character, who appears in a comic book derivative of the film as well as a video game set in this universe, could be at the center of this prequel.
George Miller has not given any hint about the sequel to “Fury Road”, which is called “Mad Max: Wasteland”. This movie will probably be difficult to put together, given that Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron had great difficulty working together.
A prequel to “Fury Road” titled “Furiosa,” starring Anja Taylor-Joy, will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival on May 15. Captured by a biker horde led by the warrior Dementus, Furiosa tries to find her way home.
