The artist loved by whole generations will sleep his eternal sleep in his hometown, Ploiesti

The beloved artist George Nicolescu, nicknamed “the blind rubadur”, will be buried on Saturday, in Ploiesti, his hometown. The lifeless body of the one who delighted generations for more than 40 years, will be laid to rest today at the Church of St. Nicholas. Those who want to say goodbye can do so today and tomorrow at the chapel of the church in Ploiești, the relatives of the family announced.

The folkist who has become one of the most successful soloists in Romanian light music will be led on the last road by dozens of artists, most of them stars with whom the soloist has made close friends in thousands of performances.

Born in Ploiești, on March 12, 1950, George Nicolescu stood out with his warm voice, full of emotion, releasing, over the years, a series of well-known hits, such as “Eternitate”, “Pretend your heart is a star” or “Grass Health Song”!

In 2002, he composed and performed the anthem of Petrol, his soul team, which he later had the opportunity to sing on stage, at the inauguration of the new “Ilie Oană” stadium.

George Nicolescu died at the age of 74.

Luiza Toboc has been working in mass media since 2003, both print and TV. He was a news editor/presenter at Prima TV Câmpina, followed by collaboration with VP TV and Travel MIX Channel, where he was a producer of shows, covering almost all spheres of interest (health, administration, politics, education, but also social). On travel television, the Travel Mix Channel produced travel diaries in the country. This was followed by collaboration with Republikanews, where he was also a producer of shows, being also involved in the project carried out in collaboration with the regional television MDI TV, from Târgoviște. From April 2021, she is part of the Prahovean Observatory team, being involved, among other things, in numerous humanitarian campaigns, widely presented in the county’s most read daily newspaper.
