--

The CA Rosetti Hall in the Palace of Parliament is, this weekend, the venue for the “Make Europe Great Again” event. Among the guests are close associates of the Trump administration, as well as members of the PiS party from Poland. On Saturday, the event started at 3:00 p.m. and George Simion, Claudiu Târziu, Martin Luther King Jr.’s granddaughter, and Mihai Neamțu, recently entered the GOLD, took the stage, among others.

At around 2:30 p.m. there was already a lot of commotion at the S1 entrance of the Palace of Parliament. Dozens of people were waiting to enter the Make Europe Great Again event area. Most of them party members, but also journalists and foreign guests.

At the moment when we presented our press credentials to be able to enter, our attention was drawn, repeatedly, more jokingly, more seriously, that if we are from HotNews.ro, it means that “you are not our friends”. We didn’t quite understand who we were supposed to be with friends, so we continued on our way to the CA Rosetti gym.

Among the personalities known to the public in Romania, apart from the leaders of the AUR, the event at the Palace of the Parliament was also attended by Lidia Vadim Tudor (the party’s candidate for the Mayor of Sector 5), Mihail Neamțu (recently joined the AUR, candidate for the European Parliament), Gheorghe Piperea (professor at the Faculty of Law from Bucharest) and Cristian Terheș (European parliamentarian).

The event started timidly with some applause. The moderators (Cristina Dumitrescu – candidate for the European Parliament elections from the AUR and Fabian Radu – advisor of the AUR for foreign affairs, as they were introduced) welcomed those in the room in English.

Before giving the floor to the first speakers, all those present stood up to listen to the Romanian anthem.

Claudiu Târziu: “People with other customs, other traditions, other religions, stormed Europe”

The first to speak was Claudiu Târziu. He was presented in the agenda of the event as a journalist, author, senator, leader of the AUR party and president of the “Mihai Eminescu” institute. Later he spoke in Romanian.

“If we want to make Europe great again, it means that it has lost its luster and its power. It is in trouble, and I think we agree that it is in big trouble, both at the EU level and at the level of the continent as a whole. How do we break the deadlock and restore Europe’s greatness? Getting back to normal. How? Here are three conservative directions that need to be pursued urgently:

1. Europe must return to a culture of life, abandon the culture of death, which is increasingly important, especially through what is promoted by the European Commission, which seeks to transform the killing of unborn children into a fundamental European right, which provides for constraints and obligations for those who defend life. A culture of life that wants to trivialize assisted suicide. We must put life in place in all its forms, such as the establishment of natural families, that is, the union between a man and a woman, born male and female”, said Claudiu Târziu to those present at the Parliament Palace.

He also added that “Europe must defend its ancient civilization. This ancient European civilization is in danger due to the phenomenon of migration. European policies have encouraged mass migration. People with other customs, other traditions, other religions, took Europe by storm” and that “Europe must give again to the desired for which the EU was established: peace through prosperity”.

George Simion: “You can still make jokes in Romania, without anyone being offended or accusing you of being politically incorrect”

Immediately after Târziu, it was George Simion’s turn to address the people present. “A true leader” as introduced by the moderators. Those present in the hall rose to their feet and applauded the AUR leader for several seconds, who was wearing a cap that read “Make Europe Great Again”. Simion addressed those present in English.

“You can still make jokes in Romania, without anyone being offended or accusing you of being politically incorrect. So, during the days you stay in Romania, you can make jokes, everything is allowed. No one will persecute you, because it’s normal, it’s human nature”, the AUR president began his speech.

“Our Prime Minister, yesterday, made a joke and said that it is shameful to be Moldovan. And we all laughed. I didn’t say it was racist, I knew it was a joke. I knew he’s not Moldovan, he’s probably Roma”, said Simion, at which point the whole hall laughed.

Simion continued and said that everyone should feel proud of who they are without being ashamed of their origins. The AUR leader also referred to the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, whom he said was sorry for not being present at the event in Bucharest.

“It often happens that Bucharest is confused with Budapest. I don’t know why, because Bucharest is much better, I’m telling you that for sure”, said Simion, receiving applause from the hall again.

“We can still get things back to normal. We just have to be honest with ourselves (…). We can change things,” continued George Simion.

Simion: an agreement would be needed by which EU parties would sign that they would not vote again for Ursula von der Leyen as head of the European Commission

The AUR leader also referred to the European parliamentary elections that will take place in June.

“We are here to talk about freedom, prosperity and peace. We cannot have prosperity and peace without freedom. It’s not too late, we can still change things, but we must be united (…). We have an important year ahead of us. The elections are coming and it is our chance to give the people the best we can”, he pointed out.

Finally, Simion said that all EU parties should sign an agreement that they “will not vote for Ursula von der Leyen to be president of the European Commission again” after this year’s elections .

“I hope that through this conference and through a lot of work we will find our way to normality, to hope, to the family,” concluded Simion.

MEP from the Netherlands: “The EU is not Europe”

After the speeches of the two AUR leaders, a series of speeches by foreign guests began. The first to take the stage was Rob Roos, an MEP from the Netherlands

“Europe has become a synonym for something undemocratic, a supranational organization: the EU. The EU is not Europe,” said Rob Roos, at which point he received applause from the audience.

“The EU does not put family, community and nation first. The EU is destroying our national identity. The EU does not support the family, it helps immigrants, which makes it harder for our children to find homes. The EU does not respect our values,” he continued.

Alveda King, the granddaughter of Martin Luther King Jr, also took the stage and gave a short speech, during which she presented George Simion with two books.

As more and more people took to the stage and one speech went from one speech to another, the enthusiasm of the people in the room waned, and gradually many of them left the room.

“They call us extreme right. What I think they’re trying to say is that we’re extremely right.”

The one who seemed to bring the room back to life was Jack Posobiec, from the US, who was introduced as an author and social media influencer. He began his speech with reference to the LGBTQ community.

“Before I came on stage I wanted to go to the toilet, and someone said to me: here you have the men’s toilet, over there is the women’s toilet. And I said: how good, there are only two options! In Washington DC, going to the bathroom is an adventure”, said Jack Posobiesc, at which time those present in the hall applauded him.

“They call us extreme right. What I think they want to say is that we are extremely right (…). Milei showed us how to fight. And Prime Minister Orban showed us that. Europe and the US must return to their Christian ways. I encourage you to remember our history, our heroes (…). Let’s make America great again, let’s make Europe great again,” Posobiec said.

Sheronna Bishop, from the USA, also took the stage, who referred to George Simion saying that he will be “the next president of Romania”.

Afterwards, several foreign guests took the stage, who discussed the theme: “The nations of Europe – between the imperialist east and the federalist west”.

Mihail Neamțu, recently joined the AUR, took the floor in this debate and spoke, in English, about the “elites” who “did nothing” to respond to the terrorist attacks in which “priests were killed just because they former priests”.

Dan Tanasă: “We, conservatives, are called Russophiles, although we were among the first to condemn Putin’s actions”

Dan Tanasă, AUR member, also spoke on this topic, who spoke about Vladimir Putin. And he also spoke in English.

“The federalization of the EU leads to the disappearance of national identities. In this case, what will our future look like? Revisionist Russia attacked Ukraine (…). We conservatives are called Russophiles, even though we were among the first to condemn Putin’s actions. We are worried about our brothers from Bessarabia and Bucovina”, said Tanasă.

The politician claims that “bureaucrats in Brussels cannot cope” with the multiple crises facing the EU.

“The adopted migration pact will make the EU much more insecure. Let’s not forget LGBTQ propaganda, which attacks the future of our society (…). We will fight for the core values of the EU. I am convinced that 2024 will be the year of change. So may God help us”, concluded Dan Tanasă.

Two other topics of discussion that were addressed at the Palace of Parliament on Saturday were: “The Three Seas Initiative: An Alternative to the Brussels Bureaucracy” and “Economic Sovereignty: Free Market, Tax Reform, Private Property and National Assets”.

MEP Cristian Terheș: “We cannot have a strong Europe without strong countries”

Gheorghe Piperea and Cristian Terheș took the stage to draw conclusions after the first day of the event. Both spoke in English.

“We are the ones we are looking for. The important thing is that someone said that to bring back the greatness we have to remember the initial values (…). “Cancel culture” is erasing our history, it is to forget who we are, it is a transformation of humans into plants. Gender ideologies are about erasing human identity, about something bad turned into normality,” Piperea said, among other things, at the end of the first day of the conference.

He also added that the EU has become an “ultra-state” entity and said that what is coming from Brussels is not a fight against the climate fight, it is about communism: “It is not about making the world better, it is about communism” .

MEP Cristian Terheș was the last person to take the stage on Saturday evening.

“It is important to look at the foundation of the EU (…). You can’t have a strong project without strong values. To make Europe great again, we should not be ashamed to promote our strong values, namely Christianity”, Terheș began his speech.

“How can we say that a man can give birth? And if he gives birth to receive the same rights as women? Do we need to have these types of debates in Europe? If a man can give birth?” he continued.

The MEP also pointed out that “we cannot have a strong Europe without strong countries” and said that the tendency is to turn the European Union into a copy of the Soviet Union.

“I hope that in June 2024 people will elect strong patriots to the Parliament who will not be afraid to defend them”, concluded Terheș.
