Donald Trump’s possible vice-president, Kristi Noem, has shocked the world after revealing that she killed her dog because it was “untrainable”, writes the BBC. The governor of South Dakota recounted this incident in her book. Also there, he also described how he killed a goat on the same day.

Kristi Noem, 52, wrote in the soon-to-be-published book that her dog Cricket was “untrainable” and “dangerous”. So he decided he had to kill him. He took the animal to a pit and shot it.

“It was not pleasant work,” she wrote. “But it had to be done.”

The book is due to be released on May 7, but The Guardian has obtained an extract from it. According to the quoted source, Noem admitted that on the same day he also killed an “undisciplined goat”.

The governess describes her frustrations with Cricket, who she says has ruined a pheasant hunt and killed a neighboring family’s chickens.

“I hated that dog,” writes Noem, saying that Cricket was “impossible to train … dangerous” and “less than worthless … as a hunting dog.”

“At that moment,” says Noem, “I knew I had to euthanize her.”

Remarkably, Noah then describes how he also chose to kill an unruly, nameless, uncastrated goat, first getting the job wrong, then killing the animal with a bullet.

Her revelations drew a wave of harsh criticism.

She defended herself in a post on X, saying: “We love animals, but tough decisions like this happen all the time on a farm.”
