Natalia Barbu, the representative of the Republic of Moldova at Eurovision, did not qualify for the final in Malmö, and now she has given her first statement, showing herself to be very upset.

In an interview for a television station from the Republic of Moldova, Natalia Barbu suggested that this contest would be influenced by political factors.

“It’s very political, it didn’t matter that my piece is about light, it’s about beauty and I’m sure I connected with a lot of people, but this contest probably isn’t just about that,” said Natalia Barbu, according to jurnal.md.

She also expressed gratitude for the opportunity, especially as she got to interact with many people.

“I thank God for this experience itself. It was nice and I think that if I got here, in this competition, I didn’t get there for nothing, because from now on a new and beautiful stage in my career and life begins”. added Natalia Barbu.

Natalia Barbu represented the Republic of Moldova at Eurovision 2024 with the song “In The Middle”, but she did not qualify for the final of the contest in Malmö. From the 15 countries participating in the semi-final, Serbia, Portugal, Slovenia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Finland, Cyprus, Croatia, Ireland and Luxembourg were selected for the grand final on May 11.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 is being held in Malmö, Sweden, after Loreen won the competition last year. The semi-finals took place on May 7 and 9, and the winning country will be chosen during the final on May 11.

Romania did not participate in Eurovision this year

Romania was not present at Eurovision 2024, after the Board of Directors of SRTv did not approve the participation in the event, due to lack of funds.

Romania, represented by Theodor Andrei with the song “DGT (Off and On)”, missed qualifying for the Eurovision 2023 final last year.

Romania’s best performances at this competition were: twice third place (Luminiţa Anghel & Sistem – Kiev, 2005; Paula Seling and Ovi – Oslo, 2010) and once fourth place (Mihai Trăistariu – Athens, 2006) ).

The Eurovision Song Contest is the most important international music competition, organized by the EBU – the largest European association of public televisions. The European Song Contest has been held every year since 1956. The show is one of the longest-running and most watched television programs in the world, being broadcast in Europe as well as in Australia, Asia and the United States.
