The deputy head of the military intelligence service in Ukraine claims that the Baltic states could be captured by Russia in just seven days. According to The Economist, Vadim Skibitski also believes that a response from NATO, in the event of a Russian attack against the Baltic countries, could come only after ten days.

Vadim Skibitski downplayed the effectiveness of NATO’s Article 5, which stipulates that an attack on a NATO state is an attack on all member states and that they will jump to the aid of the attacked countries, claiming that such a response would last up to 10 days, much too much considering that Russia could capture the Baltic States in just 7 days. He also said, according to monitorulapararii.ro, that the Ukrainians have eliminated the immediate threat of Russian airborne troops, which European states have feared for more than a decade, and that now is the time for the Europeans to return the favor to Kiev, because, in the end, the way the war will end depends not only on Ukraine, but also on Europe.

Skibitski also spoke about the situation on the Ukrainian front. He emphasized that the loss of the city of Ceasiv Iar is only a matter of time. The loss of this city represents the Russians’ gateway to the last major cities in the Donetsk region, so it would be a loss with several important consequences. Another interesting thing he said was that Moscow asked Russian forces to “capture something” by Victory Day on May 9, or before Putin’s visit to China, which will take place a week after Victory Day. This capture could even be Ceasiv Iar.
