Also presented to the Russians is a Bradley armored fighting vehicle, a Leopard 2 tank, alongside a Marder armored infantry vehicle from Germany, but also a French-made AMX-10RC armored vehicle.
The exhibition, which opened on May 1 and will remain open for a month at a World War II memorial site in western Moscow, also displays firearms, military records and other documents.
Russian authorities want the public to believe that the war in Ukraine and World War II have a common denominator: Russia as a victim, attacked by enemies abroad.
In reality, the two wars are very different. In 1941, Germany invaded Russia. In 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the BBC reports.
“It’s amazing to think that our boys managed to get these trophies,” Natalia, a local, told the BBC.
Dmitry Peskov: “A brilliant idea”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov hailed the Moscow exhibition as a “brilliant idea”.
“The exhibition of military trophies will arouse great interest from the residents of Moscow, guests of our city and all residents of the country. We should all see the destroyed equipment of the enemy,” said Dmitry Peskov.

Russian military bloggers have drawn a parallel between this event and previous displays of Nazi military equipment captured by the Soviet Union during and after World War II.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that foreign diplomats based in Moscow should take the opportunity to visit the exhibition to see how “the West is destroying peace on the planet.”
“This exhibition will be interesting for everyone who still believes in mythical Western values or fails to notice an aggression launched by NATO against Russia and our people,” said Maria Zakharova.
The exhibition comes as Russian forces have seized several areas in eastern Ukraine, taking advantage of delays in US military assistance to Kiev’s troops.
Russian authorities have criticized the deliveries of Western weapons and military equipment to Ukraine, considering them as evidence of NATO’s direct involvement in the war.
At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that Western military supplies to Kiev will not change the course of the conflict or prevent Russia from achieving its goals.
