Izvorul Tămăduirii, a big celebration for Romanians

Orthodox Christians celebrate the Healing Spring today, May 10. The feast is dedicated to the Mother of God, which falls every year on the Friday of the first week after Easter.

The Healing Spring or Bright Friday is the fifth day of the week after Easter.

It is said that if you work on this day you will have bad luck all year. Housewives don’t wash, don’t iron, and don’t sew a piece of clothing, because it will be useless and never finished.

On this day, in churches throughout the country, priests perform the consecration service of the small aghesma.

In popular tradition, patients who observe the ritual and drink agheasma in the morning, before breakfast, become stronger

This agheasam is said to have healing powers. Every room in the house is then sprinkled with it, except for the bathroom.
