The great prophecies of Isaiah refer to the incarnation of the Lord, to His birth from the Virgin Mary, to John the Baptist and to many events in the life of Christ the Savior. This Prophet also received the gift of working miracles. Thus, when Jerusalem was besieged by enemies and there was a terrible drought, Isaiah prayed to God and water flowed from under Mount Zion.

This water was called Siloam, which means “sent”. Later, the Lord would direct the steps of the one born blind to this water, in which to bathe and thus regain his sight.

During the reign of King Manasseh, the Holy Prophet Isaiah stood up against pagan customs. This was the reason why he was taken out of the fortress and cut in two with the saw.

Isaiah lived and prophesied seven hundred years before the coming of the Savior Christ. He was called the “Evangelist of the Old Testament” due to the fact that he prophesied the birth of the Messiah from the Virgin Mary, His divinity, His miracles, passions and death, and finally His glorification.

It should be mentioned that Isaiah is the one who spoke the words that the Church sang in the evenings of Denia: “The people who lived in darkness will see the great light and you who live in the shadow of death, the light will shine on you” (9, 1). And he also announced the Lord’s Entry into Jerusalem: “Light up, light up, Jerusalem, for your light is coming, and the glory of the Lord has risen over you!” (60, 1).
