The Ministry of Education today announced a series of updates to the Code of Rights and Obligations of Students, aimed at ensuring more accessible institutions for students with disabilities and greater rigor in terms of ethics in universities.
The new code regulates the specific rights of students with disabilities, requiring universities to develop a Specialized Intervention Plan for them. Thus, it is ensured that students with special needs receive the necessary support to carry out their teaching activities in optimal conditions.

Also, according to the new regulations, students cannot be forced to participate in more than 8 hours a day of teaching activities provided in the curriculum of the study program in which they are enrolled.
The updated code prohibits universities from charging additional fees to students for the reclassification process from a fee-based place to a state-funded place.
A student cannot have the quality of student representative in the decision-making structures of the same university for more than 5 years, regardless of the period in which the mandates took place and their interruptions, the updated document also provides.
“Students participate annually in the evaluation of the activity of student representatives. The election regulations of student representatives also establish mechanisms for their revocation. The student representatives have the obligation to prepare, at least twice a year, activity reports that present all the initiatives and actions carried out”, are other novelties of the Code, according to Agerpres.
