More precisely from the New York Fashion Week, where a famous designer presented the spring/summer 2024 collection, in which he included, for the first time, underwear. But not a traditional one, but one that will attract the attention of both those near the podium and the general public.

In the New Life collection, designer Willy Chavarria presented a pair of boxers that were visibly dirty, with yellowish stains and ragged.

The effect is one of considerable wear: the panties are stained and holey, as if they’ve been worn for years and years, Fan Page writes.

Torn panties, “the symbol of vulnerability”

According to the mentioned source, the designer explained the reasoning that led to this choice.

“There was a story throughout the show, and part of that story was about history and the lives of today’s youth. About the underwear, it represents a bit of how we are now: it is messy and torn, because we are not well”, said Willy Chavarria. Moreover, his entire collection is a tribute to “his roots, his family”.

“I see my family members, I see my uncles, I see my aunts. I see my cousins ​​in that show, there are looks that literally represent my grandfather: pants, open shirt and a hat that stinks, because he worked all day.

The hats are definitely a reference to something my grandfather, my father, everyone in my family wore. The idea came from their work in the field,” Chavarria said.

According to the designer, worn panties are “a symbol of our vulnerability, they are an expression of our tangled lives, in which we risk being absorbed in a vortex in which we end up getting lost, without recognizing ourselves”.
