Cannock fire: Huge blaze seen for miles around as firefighters issue urgent evacuation order

Firefighters are tackling a massive blaze that has engulfed part of a town in Staffordshire as an evacuation order has been issued for the surrounding area.

“We have a very large scale incident close to the orbital islands in Cannock,” Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said in a post uploaded to X, formerly Twitter. “We have 10 fire engines in attendance supported by specialist equipment and officers. Some road closures are in place.”

The fire service then asked all residents to close their windows and doors due to the smoke. All local businesses in the area were asked to evacuate.

Shocking photos showed a huge plume of smoke rising from the town, just northwest of Birmingham. Dozens of firefighters have been reported rushing to the scene in a bid to bring the blaze under control.

According to bystanders close to the fire, the blaze ripped through part of an industrial estate in the town.
