A woman from Dolj died after, at the beginning of April, following an endoscopy, she arrived in a serious condition at the Intensive Care Unit.

The police in Dolj are investigating the case for manslaughter and suspicion of malpractice, reports Digi24.

“In the continuation of the investigations regarding the event that took place in the evening of April 4, as a result of which a 52-year-old woman, from the municipality of Caracal, Olt county, allegedly went into cardio-respiratory arrest following an endoscopic exploration intervention, on 03.05. Her death occurred in 2024.

Taking into account the evidence administered so far, in conjunction with the preliminary medico-legal conclusions, as well as the suspicion of a case of medical malpractice, the investigations will be continued under the aspect of committing the crime of manslaughter, and upon their completion, a thorough solution will be proposed and legal, through the competent prosecutor’s office”, the IPJ Dolj representatives sent on Tuesday.

Authorities also opened an investigation in early April.

“The police officers of the Dolj Criminal Investigation Service were alerted to the fact that, on the evening of April 4, a 52-year-old woman from the municipality of Caracal, Olt county, allegedly went into cardio-respiratory arrest following an intervention of endoscopic exploration, performed by a man from the city of Craiova, a surgeon.

In the case, investigations are being carried out to establish the exact circumstances in which the event took place, and legal measures will be ordered”, announced the representatives of IPJ Dolj.
