The terrible smell coming from the apartment of a man in Spain led his neighbors to call the police. Their astonishment was not small when the law enforcement officers discovered a mummified body in bed, covered with lime bags.

The man’s mother, aged 90, had been dead for five months, and the man did not declare her death and preferred to keep the woman’s body in the house, next to him. To reduce the smell, he put bags of lime over the corpse, but it wasn’t enough.

When the law enforcement officers arrived at his apartment, the man told them that his mother was fine, but that she was sleeping. The investigators insisted on seeing the old woman. When they entered the house full of piles of garbage, the police found in a room the mummified body of the pensioner, lying in her bed, covered with lime bags, writes Le Parisien.
When questioned by the police, he indicated that his mother had died five months ago, without giving any other explanation. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of death. According to the coroner, no traces of external violence were observed. The 65-year-old son was taken to the psychiatric hospital in Tenerife.
