Wine of the day: a Mundus Vini, Berlin Wine Trophy and Women’s International Trophy Gold medalist Prosecco, the ideal companion for slightly sweet pastries

Doppio Passo Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG has achieved Gold Medal at Mundus Vini, Gold Medal at Berlin Wine Trophy and Gold Medal at Women’s International Trophy.

The Doppio Passo winery was founded in 1928 near Venice by Maria and Carlo Botter. In 2020, Botter SPA started collaboration with the German manufacturer Rotkäppchen-Mumm Sektkellereien GmbH. The winery has vineyards in the regions of Veneto, Apulia and Sicily.

Asolo Prosecco Superiore reveals a fine and delicate perlage, and the complex and delicate bouquet recalls pears, ripe green apples and citrus fruits. With fruity flavors on the palate, this prosecco is the ideal companion for slightly sweet pastries. Doppio Passo Asolo Prosecco Superiore is perfect as an aperitif, but also paired with slightly sweetened pastries, slightly cooled cakes or macarons.

Mihai Oprea: “We are all waiting for the (warmer) days, and we are preparing for the first lunches on the terrace with this prosecco, where instead of exuberant and invasive notes we find a lot of minerality, aromas of apple and candied lemon, high acidity and an alcoholic content extremely restrained. The perlage is fine and persistent and lends itself even at a slightly higher serving temperature. Goes next to smoked fish and arugula canapés.”
