Bad Easter news from Hidroelectrica. The new price per kilowatt hour

Hidroelectrica announces a slight increase in electricity tariffs for certain consumers. The state energy company, which has become a significant supplier in the electricity market this year, offering the most competitive prices, will slightly increase the price of electricity for household consumers who became customers between April 1, 2023 and June 30, 2023.

According to the announcement, Hidroelectrica proposes an active electricity supply price, including taxes, of 0.28404 lei/kWh for new customers, a slight increase compared to the initial offer of 0.28253 lei/kWh from the beginning of the year.

The total price of the billed electricity varies between 0.74452 lei/kWh for customers in Banat and 0.86766 lei/kWh for those in Oltenia. This offer is intended exclusively for household customers and is valid for contracts concluded between April 1, 2023 and June 30, 2023.

The price agreed in the contract is firm and fixed for a period of one year, regardless of the level of consumption. For comparison, in the previous offer, starting from January 1, the price varied between 0.70160 lei/kWh for customers in Bucharest and 0.78454 lei/kWh for those in Oltenia.

It is also important to note that Hidroelectrica’s previous offer was valid until June 30, but it seems that the company has decided to implement a price adjustment earlier.

Therefore, the final price charged by Hidroelectrica is slightly above the lowest price capped by the state, which is 0.68 lei/kWh. However, for customers who register a monthly consumption of less than 100 kWh, the company will apply the capped price of 0.68 lei/kWh, according to Economedia.

Hidroelectrica sued the state

In other news, the state-owned company Hidroelectrica, the largest electricity producer in Romania and one of the largest contributors to the state budget, sued the Treasury, contesting a tax decision from the previous year.

This decision of ANAF established that the company must pay an additional amount of over 62 million lei to the surcharge owed by the producers in the sector, plus accessories of 1.56 million lei.

Hidroelectrica paid the requested sums in full, after which it administratively challenged the tax documents. However, since the appeals were rejected, the company went to court.
