The train accident happened on DN 14, kilometer 27, at the railway crossing between the towns of Ruși and Șeica Mare. The train driver and passengers were not injured.

Fatal accident on the railway, between Sibiu and Mediaş

The man was alone in the car at the time of the impact. The train mechanic did not see the car in time, as it was projected outside the carriageway.

“From the first investigations carried out, it emerged that, while driving a van from Mediaș towards Sibiu, a 38-year-old man from Alba county, alone in the car, would not have respected the meaning of the red color of the traffic light installed at the crossing, entered the railway and was hit by a passenger train traveling from Sibiu to Mediaș. The vehicle was thrown off the roadway.

Unfortunately, the driver died as a result of the impact. The passengers on the train and the train driver, a 64-year-old man from Cluj County, were not injured“, according to IPJ Sibiu.

Fatal accident on Easter day: car crushed by train

The driver of the utility vehicle did not die on the spot. When the rescue crew arrived, he was in cardio-respiratory arrest, but despite the resuscitation maneuvers performed by the doctors, he died.

“Three SMURD crews went to the scene, one of them with a doctor and the emergency doctor’s car. The 38-year-old man was in cardio-respiratory arrest, unfortunately, despite the efforts made, he did not respond to resuscitation maneuvers, the doctor present at the scene declaring death“, said Raluca Marcu, Spokesperson of ISU Sibiu, according to novatv.ro
