Emma Hayes will take charge of Chelsea for the final time on home soil when we face Bristol City in the Barclays Women’s Super League at Kingsmeadow on Sunday.

Having suffered a disappointing setback in our bid to retain the WSL title with defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday, we dust ourselves down and pick ourselves back up with three games remaining before the curtain falls on the 2023/24 campaign.

It promises to be an emotional evening in front of a sellout crowd at Kingsmeadow, where supporters will be able to acknowledge the many contributions of Maren Mjelde and Fran Kirby, who will depart the club at the end of the season after seven and nine years of service respectively.

Leaders Manchester City take on Arsenal on Sunday afternoon before we face Bristol City later that evening. Regardless of results elsewhere, we will be focused on returning to winning ways and keeping our title hopes alive.

When and where?

We welcome Bristol City to Kingsmeadow this Sunday 5 May, with kick-off scheduled for 6.45pm (BST).

How to follow

As always, you can follow the game via Chelsea Women’s social media channels. There will be live commentary on our Twitter page and regular updates on Facebook and Instagram. Simply search ‘ChelseaFCW’ on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

For supporters who are unable to attend the match, the contest has also been selected for live television coverage on Sky Sports for UK customers.

The form

The Blues currently occupy second place in the WSL standings heading into the weekend. We remain six points behind Manchester City with one game in hand after the defeat to Liverpool in midweek.

After 15 wins, one draw and three defeats from 19 league matches, we have earned 46 points out of 57 available. With 56 goals scored and 18 conceded in the process, we possess a goal difference of 38, eight behind Manchester City’s 46.

As for Bristol City, they sit bottom of the WSL table on six points, having won one, drawn three and lost 16 of their 20 league games to date.

They have netted 20 goals and conceded 58, leaving them with a goal difference of -38.

Chelsea vs Bristol City – Recent head-to-head

In December we traveled to Ashton Gate and scored three goals without reply to register an important three points in our final WSL match of 2023.

Well-taken finishes from Lauren James, Erin Cuthbert and Sam Kerr got the job done while at the other end, Hannah Hampton impressed and kept a clean sheet on her Chelsea debut.

Next up for the Blues

There is a break in play for Chelsea before returning to WSL action with a London derby against Tottenham Hotspur at Brisbane Road on Wednesday 15 May.

Kick-off scheduled for 7.15pm (BST) and the match will be broadcast live on the BBC.
