21-year-old Denis Drănă was a licensed footballer at the Retezatul Hațeg City Sports Club. He was also a player for the Inter Deva team, in the Municipal Mini-Football Championship.

“The police officers who arrived at the scene found that a 23-year-old man, while driving a car on DJ 700A, within the radius of the town of Băița. He lost control of the direction of travel in a left curve entering a guardrail.
The driver was tested with the breathalyzer, which indicated a value of 0.54 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air”, according to IPJ Hunedoara.
The three injured people were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
The police have opened a criminal case against the driver, for manslaughter and culpable bodily harm.
