The financial potential of castor is impressive, generating profits of up to 30,000 euros per hectare. This plant, with multiple applications in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry, is increasingly finding its place in Romanian agriculture, although its cultivation began in our country only in 1989.

The low costs of castor cultivation, which do not exceed 1,500 euros per hectare, make this business extremely attractive for farmers. However, the road to success in growing castor beans is not without its challenges. Even if the soils in Romania are suitable for this crop, a careful approach and initial investments in seeds and technology are necessary.

Castor – gold mine for farmers

With a production potential that can reach 5,000 kilograms per hectare, farmers are beginning to look with increasing interest to this plant, aware of the considerable financial benefits it can bring.

Although the popularity of castor oil is greater in countries such as India and China, in Romania it has not yet been fully explored. However, with increased attention from farmers and effective crop management, castor could become a successful crop in the Romanian agricultural landscape as well, bringing significant economic benefits to farmers.
