The College of Doctors from Bucharest presents on Wednesday the conclusions of the investigation from the Pantelimon Hospital in the Capital, regarding the allegations of improper administration of a medicine in the ATI Department, which would have led to the death of 17 patients in four days.

The Disciplinary Commission of the College of Physicians of the Municipality of Bucharest (CMMB), which met in connection with the situation concerning the Emergency Clinical Hospital “St. Pantelimon” Bucharest, finalized the report and discussed it on Tuesday evening.

The conclusions are to be presented during the Wednesday, in a press conference scheduled at 11.00.

Cătălina Poiană, president of the CMMB, Liana Pleş, president of the Disciplinary Commission of the CMMB, and Lucian Negreanu, vice-president of the CMMB and president of the Professional Jurisdiction Commission, will take part.

Several investigations were started, including a criminal one, after accusations related to the death of several patients, in just a few days, in the ATI Department of the Emergency Clinical Hospital “St. Pantelimon” Bucharest, due to improper administration of a medicine.

The Control Body of the Minister of Health submitted preliminary conclusions, stating that the checks only concerned the administrative activity of the unit.

“The complaints are based on faulty communication”, the representatives of the Ministry of Health said.

The Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Court started the criminal investigation regarding the crime of murder, after 17 patients admitted to the Anesthesia-Intensive Therapy Department of the hospital died within just four days.

Three employees of the medical unit were interviewed, research was done on the spot and documents were collected.
