Shocking hypothesis in the case of the young man from Suceava found dead on the road: it was not an accident, but revenge

Shocking details are emerging in the case of the fatal accident on the morning of May 1, on a county road in Suceava. The investigators are considering several options, including a possible revenge of the perpetrator, after a previous conflict with the victim. Although at the hearings the driver who was behind the wheel claimed that he did not know the deceased young man, the relatives of the latter say that the accident was, in fact, a revenge, writes Monitorul de Suceava.

In the accident that occurred on May 1, 2024, around 06:20, on DJ 209 in Suceava, a 25-year-old man died. It was the locals who called 112 and reported that he had died on the road.

The police immediately opened an investigation and, two hours later, managed to track down the suspect. The man, aged 21, was drunk and had barricaded himself in his home in Frumoasa – Moara. Only after 7 hours, during which he spoke with the investigators from the balcony, the man agreed to surrender, convinced by his lawyer.

During questioning, the suspect claimed he did not know the victim. The investigators, writes the cited source, do not rule out the possibility that the accident was, in fact, revenge.

First of all, it is not known what the victim was looking for at that time, 5:00 in the morning, on the road from Frumoasa, given that the victim lived in the municipality of Suceava. Moreover, the relatives of the deceased claim that there would have been a previous conflict between the victim and the suspect. In order to take revenge, the 21-year-old man allegedly got behind the wheel of the car and intentionally hit the 25-year-old man.

On Wednesday, after obtaining the search warrant, the police went to the building in Frumoasa, where the suspect lives. They checked and collected evidence from the car involved in the fatal accident. The car was seriously damaged on the front left side, and an ax was also found inside. Also, several traces of blood were found in the house and in the yard, writes the quoted source. Investigators also seized the suspect’s cell phone.

In parallel, the man was tested with the breathalyzer, which indicated a value of 0.71 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air.

Based on the existing evidence, the young man was detained on Wednesday for 24 hours and will be presented, during Thursday, to the Suceava Court with a proposal for preventive arrest.

The man is being investigated for manslaughter, leaving the scene of the accident and driving a vehicle on public roads under the influence of alcoholic beverages.
