Three Ministries introduce urgent measures to solve the problem of water supply for daily use

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, and the Ministry of Rural Development met to discuss cooperation and interventions on the issue of finding water sources for daily water supply to the people.

The meeting was held on April 30, 2024, with the participation of Thor Chetha, Minister of Water Resources; Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation; Chhay Rithisen, Ministry of Rural Development; and the leaders of the three ministries.

As a result, the three ministries agreed in principle to work together in the field of water supply to serve the common good, identifying the following emergency and long-term measures:

For emergency measures:

1. drilling wells to extract water from the ground for temporary supply.

2. Find water from other surface water sources that may be able to temporarily intervene in the supply.

3. Supply water by other means to solve the problem in front.

For long-term measures:

1. The three ministries will set up a technical working group to make a memorandum of understanding to divide tasks, avoid overlapping tasks, hinder implementation, and affect the interests of citizens.

2. Prepare a joint master plan by mapping information together with the map of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction to have comprehensive information in the development plan for each sector. Dap-news
