The pharmacy group made the decision early on Sunday evening and shared a reason for the measure, according to CTV News.

“London Drugs immediately undertook countermeasures to protect its network and data, including retaining leading third-party cybersecurity experts to assist with containment, remediation and to conduct a forensic investigation,” the company said.

London Drugs added that the drastic measure was taken “out of an abundance of caution.”

The company added that it had “no reason to believe” any client or staff data was compromised.

London Drugs followed up on X, formerly Twitter, with a https://twitter.com/LondonDrugs/status/1784655567320998352 for its customers.

“London Drugs has experienced an operational issue that has led to stores across Western Canada being closed until further notice,” the post said.

The post advised customers in urgent situations on what to do.

“Pharmacists are standing by to support with urgent pharmacy needs,” the company added.

“We advise customers to phone their local store’s pharmacy to make arrangements.”

This has forced the national chain to take extreme measures, which have included store closures.

The company had previously listed 2,072 locations, before filing for bankruptcy.

Now, it only lists 1,687, meaning it has closed 387 stores in six months.

Despite this, the chain has hoped to escape bankruptcy in April, according to Reuters.

The US Sun has reached out to London Drugs for comment.
