The former head of the Cluj-Napoca Police, Ioan Herdea-Rus, will run for Huedin City Hall on behalf of the AUR. The information appeared on the website of the AUR organization in Huedin.
Ioan Herdea-Rus (69 years old) retired about 10 years ago from the police with the rank of chief commissioner. Herdea-Rus was the head of the Huedin Police, then the head of the Judicial Service within the Cluj Police Inspectorate and, later, the commander of the Cluj-Napoca Municipality Police.
The police activity of Ioan Herdea-Rus also had controversial moments. The AUR candidate for Huedin City Hall was accused of; at the time when he was the head of the Judicial Service of IPJ Cluj he allegedly “directed” a crime.
In the spring of 2001, a young woman from Cluj was brutally beaten and then robbed in an elevator cabin in the block where she lived. The young woman died, and after a year of investigations, the Judiciary led by Herdea-Rus accused Florin Emanuel Bodrog of committing robbery and murder. Bodrog was sentenced to 19 years in prison.
In prison, Bodrog claimed that he only robbed the victim; and that those who investigated him framed him for the crime, without him having committed it. Ioan Herdea-Rus rejected the accusations from the very beginning, saying that Florin Bodrog would have denounced himself after about a year.
The former head of the Judiciary also claimed that Bodrog arrived at the Gherla Penitentiary and from there started an avalanche of self-denunciations. He would have admitted crimes in Bucharest, Arad, Brasov, and some he had no way of committing.
So far, six people have announced their candidacy at Huedin City Hall.
