Mircea Geoană, Deputy Secretary General of NATO, sent a message of solidarity. Romanians from Romania were also targeted, as well as those beyond the Prut. Geoană spoke about the promise that Romanians must keep to their brothers from Bessarabia, a historic one. The official also conveyed that Moldova is expected as soon as possible in the great family of the European Union. The speech was delivered at a meeting of the US diaspora, formed by both Romanians and Moldovans.

“I want to welcome the presence of both Romanian Americans and our brothers and sisters from beyond the Prut. Today, Romania and the Republic of Moldova have a chance to return together to democratic Europe and we all have an obligation to respect the Moldovans and perhaps do what we did not keep as a solemn contract at the first Union between Moldova and Wallachia. My respect and admiration for all Romanians, for all Romanian women and for our dear Moldovans, whom we are waiting for in the European family as soon as possible. May God bring us all together”, was the message that Mircea Geoană sent to him”, the Deputy Secretary General of NATO sent.
