Tudor-Cătălin Codreanu, a student of the “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy (AFT) in Sibiu, was decorated with the Emblem of Honor for several of his inventions, including a smart house or an autonomous weather station, reports Agerpres.

“I want to encourage everyone who is looking for a passion to follow their dreams and never give up. Every obstacle encountered on the way can be overcome with determination and perseverance, and every success and, why not, failure achieved be an extra step towards personal and professional fulfillment. With gratitude to those who supported me during this extraordinary journey, I now look to the future, ready to face new challenges and experience new adventures in the fascinating world of technology and innovation”, said sd.sg. Tudor-Cătălin Codreanu.

A genius student

Third-year student, Communication Weapons, Information Technology and Cyber Defense at AFT Sibiu, he is fascinated by robotics, being the winner of numerous awards at various competitions, including the award of excellence at the third edition of the national competition “Student Design&Manufacturing Competition”, with the work “Flexible cartridge sorting cell using the BULLETSORT parallel robot”.

“He explored various fields and always sought to broaden his horizons in the world of technology, innovation and research, developing projects such as: automatic cocktail dispenser, mobile target system for the real simulation of shooting sessions, a smart home, in miniature, controlled by wi-fi with a software application, through which one can monitor and change its various parameters, the flexible cartridge sorting cell, the autonomous weather station, a project to improve firing devices by adding control from the software application and transmitting data via radio”, says the press release of AFT Sibiu.

The smart house controlled by the application thought up by this military student “is a miniature house, controlled by wi-fi with a software application, through which different parameters of the house can be monitored and modified or operate autonomously. You monitor: temperature, air quality, humidity and you can turn on, turn off, change the color and intensity of the bulbs, draw the curtains, open the doors, start the fan, and the autonomous mode, to turn on the fan when a preset temperature is reached, to draw the curtains if the sun is strong and others)”, explained, for AGERPRES, the spokesperson of AFT Sibiu, Alexandra Trefaş.

Autonomous weather station

Another invention of the student from AFT Sibiu is an “autonomous weather station, which works with a solar panel for increased autonomy, and it can monitor 12 meteorological parameters (humidity, temperature, altitude, pressure, air quality, soil moisture, rain density , wind speed and direction) and displays all this data on a cloud platform so that it can be followed by anyone”, Alexandra Trefaş pointed out.

Chief of Staff of the Land Forces, gl.lt. Ciprian Marin, this year awarded the Emblem of Honor to two military students from Sibiu, the second being sd.plt.maj. Radu Ionuţ Andrei Marin. He is passionate about cyber security and has participated in numerous national competitions, where he ranked, most of the time, at least in the first 10% of the participants. He successfully represented the Ministry of National Defense and the “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy in Sibiu in national cyber security exercises, such as CyberMAN and CyDex, as well as international, NATO-level exercises, such as Locked Shields, organized by the Cyber Defense Command.

Ciprian Marin organized, in the last two years, two cyber security competitions, one at the local level, between the academy and the military schools of military foremen and non-commissioned officers, and one national, competitions in which more than 360 high school students signed up and students from bachelor’s and master’s university studies, from the military and civilian environment, but also passionate or curious about this field.

“Ambitious and competitive by nature, sd.plt.maj. Radu Ionuţ Andrei Marin is also a sports enthusiast. Over time, he participated in numerous local, national, European and world karate competitions, managing to get 1st place at the World Traditional Fudokan Shotokan Karate Championship in Serbia, in 2011, being also the holder of the Black Belt (1DAN)” , it is also stated in the press release of AFT Sibiu.
