Baby Sabreen al-Sakani, the baby girl born by emergency C-section after her mother was killed in an Israeli raid in Rafah, has died.

The little girl’s story went around the world. Last Sunday, doctors managed to extract the newborn alive from the womb of his dying mother and resuscitate him, according to the BBC.

“This baby should have been in her mother’s womb right now, but she was denied that right,” said Dr. Mohammed Salama after the birth.

Unfortunately, Sabreen, who was named after her mother, did not make it. She was buried with her mother.

Gaza’s Health Ministry says that of the more than 34,000 people killed in Gaza since the war began on October 7, at least two-thirds are women and children.
