A 21-year-old woman from Spain was close to death after drinking coffee from an airport vending machine. The woman felt a strange taste and when she looked into the glass she noticed a lot of insects.
A tragedy was narrowly averted at an airport in Mallorca after a 21-year-old airline employee suffered severe anaphylactic shock from a coffee bought from a vending machine.
While sipping her coffee, the young woman felt an unusual taste. She discovered several insects inside the glass.
Immediately, the woman’s face swelled up and she began to have difficulty breathing.
The emergency intervention of the airport medical staff was needed, and later, the young woman spent 36 hours in Intensive Care to recover.
His family filed a complaint with the National Police claiming that the presence of insects in the coffee could constitute an offense against public health and gross negligence on the part of the airport in maintaining the machine.
Authorities are investigating the case and the airport management company has opened an internal investigation.
