Taylor Swift Brings Her Phenomenal Tour ‘The Eras Tour’ to Europe / Countries to Perform

The American megastar Taylor Swift starts her record tour in Europe on Thursday in Paris, the concerts in the French capital being followed by representatives in Lyon, Madrid, London and Munich, the AFP agency reports on Tuesday, quoted by Agerpres.

The Eras Tour, which debuted in March 2023 in the United States, late last year became the first tour in history to sell tickets with a total value of more than one billion dollars. A figure that is expected to double, at least, until the final concert in Canada, in December.

This three-hour-and-20-minute show, with which the singer has already crossed America, Asia and Australia, includes songs from the ten albums (since 2006’s Taylor Swift) that have propelled the artist from the status of a country singer in her native country to that of the most famous international pop star, with 110 million listeners per month on Spotify (compared to 70 million for Beyoncé or Dua Lipa).

In mid-April, the 34-year-old singer released her 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department. Selling 1.4 million copies on its first day, it became the most streamed single of its release on Spotify, with one billion streams in five days.

“Will she dedicate an entire section of the concert to this album or will she sing only a few songs?” asked Glenys Johnson, the author of the book “Taylor Swift: The story of a fashion legend” in the name of “Swifties”, the nickname of the singer’s fans.

According to Satu Hameenaho-Fox, author of the book “Into the Taylor-Verse: A tour of Taylor Swift’s songwriting journey through the eras”, the star built her success on “the common language of young women”.

“There is something in her music that captures the teenage girl’s desire to see her life take off, the aspiration for a more poetic existence, full of passion, danger and love,” the author told AFP.

In the 17 years since the artist has been singing about her joys and sorrows, “the audience has grown with her. The feelings it conveys have become more complex. (…) She creates a space for the deepest emotions, which sometimes we feel we are not allowed to feel”, added the author.

The star, named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year 2023, takes care of her fans, ‘Swifties’, going as far as inviting them to her home or giving them gifts.

At each of the four concerts in Paris, until Sunday, there will be almost 42,000 fans at La Défense Arena, of which 20% are American and 10% European, according to the figures provided to AFP by this hall. To get their access ticket, after many hours of standing in line, the fans spent, on average, 180 euros, said Bathilde Lorenzetti, vice-president of Paris La Défense Arena.

In addition, the hall has exceptionally doubled the sales points for derivative products.

The sixth tour will then take American singer Taylor Swift, who took a stand against “Trumpism” in 2018, to Sweden, Portugal, Spain, France again, Lyon on June 2 and 3, UK , Ireland, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria and again in the United Kingdom.

Each performance is expected to have a considerable impact on the local economy. Various studies estimate the impact in the United States at between 5 and 10 billion dollars.
