A former general secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture for almost a decade, who at one point also became general secretary of the Government, is the AUR candidate for the position of president of the Vaslui County Council (CJ).

The AUR candidate for CJ Vaslui is Sorin Chelmu, a figure known to many people also through the perspective of the position held at Agriculture and who, now, can be found on the AUR lists.

Sorin Chelmu, zootechnical engineer by profession, worked, starting in 2005, in the Ministry of Agriculture, where he arrived from the PC, and became Secretary General of the Government in November 2015, with the inauguration of the Cioloş Cabinet.

In a press conference, Chelmu spoke about the problems of sheep breeders, who are dissatisfied with the fact that the local administrations do not provide them with pastures and hayfields, as the law states.

Moreover, they claim that they have not received even today, despite the fact that they had promises from the Ministry of Agriculture, the subsidies per head of sheep and they do not have a market in Vaslui county.

Sorin Chelmu came to the conference with a lamb that he baptized Aurică, wanting to convey that these animal breeders need support from the authorities.

“It is a custom among Americans to pardon the turkey. This year we will pardon Aurica and he will become the sheep with golden wool. Unfortunately, the purchasing power of Romanians is getting weaker and weaker. In vain, our governors tell us that pensions have been increased, that salaries have been increased. (…) Everyone tells us that pensions have increased. The real truth is that people no longer have money, not for a lamb, not even for a leg of lamb. Given that for two or three years, the manufacturer has not increased the price at all, the question is why the prices in the gallantare are so high. (…) But instead, Brussels comes and what does it tell us, guess what we have here? Cockroaches, this is the option. It’s the offer that Brussels is increasingly telling us, leave the lamb, the mutton. The cow is polluting, the pig has African swine fever, the chicken has bird flu and so on. You don’t grow any more, because we bring you bugs in the form of flour or other things”, said Chelmu.
