Two Romanian women will receive compensation of almost 100,000 euros from an Italian insurance company. The women fought for years to convince judges that they should receive damages after the death of their sister, who lived there.

Historic decision and a legal first in Italy. The Romanian sisters of a Romanian woman resident in Italy, who died as a result of a road accident, will receive, for the first time in history, compensation in the amount of 100,000 euros. The Romanian caregiver died in the Umbria region following a road accident, and the Perugia Court decided to offer compensation to her relatives, even though her sisters do not live in Italy, but in Romania.

The court made this decision, thus recognizing the right to compensation for the victim’s relatives. Until now, before this historic decision, Italian courts did not offer financial compensation to the relatives of road accident victims, if they were not resident in Italy, considering that the emotional bond between the victim and the relatives at a great distance is one weakened by distance.
