The 38-year-old woman presented herself at Bacău County Emergency Hospital with severe abdominal pain, fever, chills and headache. Although they found that the pregnancy had stopped developing, the doctors did not take immediate measures, and the pregnant woman was left in agony for several hours, say the woman’s relatives.
According to them, the medical staff postponed the pregnant woman’s operation, during which her condition visibly deteriorated. Instead, doctors allegedly told the woman she was having a nervous breakdown, while she complained of stomach pains.
In order to get pregnant, Maria had undergone an in vitro fertilization procedure, and two days before the abdominal pain that caused her to go to the hospital, she had been seen by a doctor who allegedly told her that the pregnancy was progressing normally .
The woman’s husband is now looking for an explanation for her death and accuses the doctors of negligence. The man narrated the uproar he went through in the last moments of his life.
“In the evening I was laughing with Maria: Look, your daughter doesn’t sit in the pictures, she only sits with her back turned. On Friday, he woke up with chills, stomach pains. He threw up at the bottom of the stairs, at the entrance to the maternity ward. A nurse comes who wanted to check his temperature, she discovers to her amazement that she no longer has a thermometer at the reception, that a colleague took it and never brought it back. They made a rag. She complained of stomach pains, but they told her she was having a mental breakdown. They tell me that Maria is in a serious condition. That biology is something that doesn’t necessarily belong to them, that it belongs to evolution, that I don’t know for sure what the situation is with it”, the man declared to a TV station.
Torn by pain, Maria’s mother declared, for her part: “He died in days. I talked to her in the evening and in the morning. He said that his lips were dry and he says, mommy, there is no one here”.
