The road accident happened today, around 2:40 p.m., in the village of Arsa, Albeşti commune. According to the Constanța County Ambulance Service, two children – a 3-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl were hit by a car.
The victims were transported to Constanța County Hospital. According to the doctors on the ambulance, the boy is conscious, but suffered a cranio-cerebral trauma, and the girl is in a coma, intubated, with major polytrauma, severe cranio-cerebral trauma.
Two ambulances B2 and SAJ C2 intervened at the scene of the accident.
IPJ Constanța representatives say that the driver responsible for the accident was under the influence of alcoholic beverages.
“On the 1st of April this year, around 2:40 p.m., police officers from the Mangalia Municipal Police – Road Safety Bureau were alerted to the fact that a road accident occurred on Mihai Eminescu Street in the village of Arsa. The police officers dispatched to the scene found that a 64-year-old man allegedly drove a car, lost control of the steering and injured two minors, aged 3 and 9, respectively. Later, the car would have collided with a bridgehead, after which it would have hit two parked vehicles and the fence of a building. As a result of the road accident, the driver and the two minors were injured. The driver was tested with the breathalyzer, the result being 0.84 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air. It was also tested with the device provided, in order to establish indications regarding the possible presence of psychoactive substances, the result being negative. Later, he was taken to a medical unit, for the taking of biological samples, in order to establish the blood alcohol level. In the case, a criminal investigation file was drawn up for committing the crimes of culpable bodily harm and driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or other substances”, IPJ Constanța reports.
