There have been numerous discussions on this topic. Almost immediately after the release of the film on the big screen in 1998, many of those who watched it asked themselves: could Jack have been saved if Rose had made room for him on the famous door that served as a makeshift raft?
Unanswered question, of course. Instead, the door to one of the Titanic’s cabins found a new owner. It was auctioned at Heritage Auctions, which offered various props used in Hollywood films. To take possession of this exceptional object, the new owner paid the handsome sum of 718,750 dollars, i.e. more than 660,000 euros.
It looks like the door made the auction. Because the price with which the dress worn by Kate Winslet was purchased was far behind. One of the outfits of the American star was bought for 125,000 dollars, which is almost 115,000 euros. Other exceptional accessories were also sold during these auctions. Among them was the whip used by Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones, sold for 525,000 dollars (about 480,000 euros).

Another accessory delighted the curious: the famous ax from the Shining, the film in which the no less famous Jack Nicholson played, and which was bought for $125,000, almost $600,000 less than the Titanic’s door. In a press release, the organizers assured “most lots exceeded expectations thanks to more than 5,500 bidders from around the world. In five days, 1,600 items were auctioned for $15.68 million (around €14.3 million).
