An urgent flood warning has been issued for part of Wiltshire after heavy rain.

The Environment Agency says that flooding is expected on the River Bourne, in Tidworth and Shipton Bellinger, today (Thursday).

In Tidworth, the areas most at risk include Luggershall Road and Penning Road North of Plassey Close.

In Shipton Bellinger, the High Street junction with Bulford Road is most at risk.

Locals are being told to act on their flood plans immediately, or follow the advice issued.

A spokesperson said: “River levels are rising on the River Bourne due to heavy rainfall. Further rainfall is forecast this evening.

“We will continue to monitor the forecast and re-issue this alert/warning if necessary. Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.”

They added: “Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.”
