Fresh off of playing a historic 52 minutes against the Milwaukee Bucks, Anthony Davis has to face off against Jaren Jackson Jr. and the Memphis Grizzlies tonight. However, Davis is listed on the injury report.
Anthony Davis started the night officially listed as questionable with a left knee hyperextension against the Memphis Grizzlies tonight. Lakers coach Darvin Ham revealed that Davis would be a game-time decision against the Grizzlies, and now he’s officially listed as out.
In two games against the Grizzlies this season, Anthony Davis is averaging 25.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 4.0 blocks on 60.6% shooting. Despite Davis’ stellar play, the Lakers and shorthanded Grizzlies have somehow split the regular season series 1-1. After tonight, they’ll face off one more time on April 12 for the final time this season.
Last season, the Lakers and Grizzlies had a very contemptuous playoff series against each other. Even though the two teams won’t meet in the playoffs again this year, they’ve still had their moments of hostility on the court.
In terms of standings, the Memphis Grizzlies don’t necessarily have anything to fight for anymore. They’re basically locked into the 13th seed since they’re five games away from the 12th and five games away from the 14th seed. The Lakers, however, are only three games from making it out of the play-in spot, but also only 3.5 games from being out of the play-in entirely. A Lakers loss tonight would be disastrous.
