Windows 11, with the release of update KB5036980, started to generate many discussions and frustrations among users. This version brought with it not only technical improvements, but also an unpleasant surprise element: ads in the start menu. This new look, far from being well-received, has sparked community discontent, and Microsoft is now under pressure to react effectively and quickly.

Microsoft started including ads in the Start menu of Windows 11, they were described by many users as intrusive and annoying. This added an extra layer of complexity for those already experiencing technical system issues. Another problematic element identified is the error that occurs when users try to change their profile picture, encountered by those who use local accounts instead of online Microsoft accounts.

Microsoft was quick to respond to these issues via the Feedback Hub, confirming that it is aware of the issues and is working on a fix. In light of these events, it is expected that the optional May 2024 update will bring solutions to these defects, including those related to unwanted advertisements.

Windows 11 also faced other bugs that affected the performance and functionality of the system. Microsoft has confirmed that they are investigating these issues, and expect them to be fixed soon, along with the profile picture bug.

The update is available to users running Windows 11 versions 23H2 and 22H2 and can be installed manually from the Microsoft Update Catalog. This means that despite the challenges, Microsoft continues its efforts to provide a stable and optimized operating system. Microsoft does not have a complete answer for those affected by these issues, and the only temporary solution is patience.

Until the patch is released in May, Windows 11 users may have to live with the ads in the start menu and wait for remedial interventions from Microsoft. As this situation evolves, it remains to be seen how Microsoft will be able to rehabilitate its image and meet the expectations of its users at a time when their trust and satisfaction are critical to the continued success of Windows 11.
