The Google Pixel 8a is Google’s worst-kept secret. So far, its hardware specifications, the colors in which it will be available, and the fact that it would be the first Google smartphone officially available in new regions, including Romania, have been circulated.
The series of leaks now continues with some promotional images dedicated to the Google Pixel 8a, which reveal some new details, but also confirm some of the information we already knew.
Thus, the camera system with which the Google Pixel 8a will be equipped would benefit from the contribution of AI, being offered support for functions such as Audio Magic Eraser, capable of eliminating unwanted background noise from video clips recorded with the phone, or Night Sight, for the most successful photos at night.
As everyone expects, the Google Pixel 8a would use its own Tensor G3 chip (the same used by its bigger brothers Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro), and its battery would be able to be charged, by wire, at a maximum of 18W, using a compatible charger.
These leaks also confirm that the Pixel 8a will benefit from IP67 certification for water and dust resistance, but also from no less than 7 years of security updates.
Among the AI-based features that we have encountered before and at the competition, the Google Pixel 8a will offer the possibility to make a summary of received e-mails, but also the “Circle to Search” function, popularized by Samsung at the beginning of this year.
From the category of unconfirmed rumors, the new smartphone from Google would have 8 GB of RAM memory, as well as a screen with a diagonal of 6.1 inches, with FullHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz (or only 90 Hz , according to other sources). The camera system would be based on a main sensor of 64 MP and an ultra-wide one of 13 MP, and the battery would have a capacity of 4500 mAh.
The Google Pixel 8a will be officially announced at this year’s Google I/O conference, which will take place on May 14, 2024.
