Xabi Alonso praised his players after Bayer Leverkusen’s qualification for the Europa League final and claimed they showed strength of character by not letting themselves be beaten and coming back from 0-2 down to Roma, to get back on the table and score the equalizing goal in the 90+7th minute.

Also, the Iberian coach emphasized that his students have chances to win two more important trophies in the current season, after the title obtained in the Bundesliga: the Europa League and the German Cup (DfB Pokal).

“We are happy to be in the final. As a result, we will play two finals in a week. We showed a lot of character today after their second goal. I looked the players in the eye afterwards and I saw that they wanted more a lot. We still have a chance to win the treble and my boys deserve all three trophies.”said Xabi Alonso, according to the UEFA Europa League website.

In the UEL final, Bayer Leverkusen will face Atalanta, the team from Italy that managed to eliminate Olympique Marseille (Ligue 1) in the semifinals with a score of 4-1 on aggregate.
