Lando Norris, victory in the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Miami
Lando started from fifth on the grid, but took advantage of a Safety Car midway through the race.
On the Miami International Autodrome, Norris overtook Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull – second place) and Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari – third place).
Lando Norris became the 114th Grand Prix winner in Formula 1 history.
“It was about time, wasn’t it?! What a race. I have been waiting for a long time. I finally managed to do it for my team and give them a result. It was a long race, the whole weekend was good, with a few small setbacks along the way.
I knew on Friday that we had the necessary rhythm. I had the perfect strategy. What should I say (to McLaren – no)? I made a lot of mistakes along the way, but today everything went well and it’s for them. We stayed together and I believe in them” – Lando Norris.
Just a week ago, Norris (24) was spotted with a bandage on his face after the he cut himself in a bottle at a party which he attended in Amsterdam.
The last race won by a McLaren single-seater was in 2021, when Daniel Ricciardo prevailed in the Italian Grand Prix (Norris then finished second).
