The double winner of Grand Slam tournaments does not meet any criteria to be present at the multi-sport competition in the French capital. To be eligible, a player must have played in the past year in the Billie Jean King Cup or Davis Cup and be ranked accordingly. In other words, to be among the first approximately 65 places in the world hierarchy.

The rankings taken into account will be those published on June 10. The top 56 in both rankings will go to the Paris Games, with the caveat that a country is not allowed to send more than four players in the women’s or men’s.
The Czech Republic, for example, currently has no less than seven athletes in the top 56. As a result, Marketa Vondrousova, Karolina Muchova, Barbora Krejcikova and Linda Noskova should take precedence over Marie Bouzkova, Katerina Siniakova and Karolina Pliskova.

As there are 64 players on the singles tables, there are still eight free places. Six of these will be occupied by federations that do not have a representative.

Currently, the only Romanians eligible for the Olympics are Ana Bogdan (64 WTA) and Jaqueline Cristian (73 WTA), but it remains to be seen how they will perform at the tournaments that will take place until July 5, especially at Roland Garros (May 27 – June 9) and Wimbledon (July 1 – July 14).
