The government approved, in Tuesday’s meeting, a memorandum that gives the green light to the start of the construction of the new “Nicolae Dorin” stadium in Pitesti. The stadium will have 15,200 seats, and the total value for this project is 372.8 million lei including VAT. Another project announced by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu is the construction of the “Gheorghe Hagi” stadium in Constanta. It is a project of almost 100 million euros, with 18,000 seats.

“We have two major projects in the field of sports through which we honor two great athletes of the country, and I would like to thank Gică Popescu, with whom I consulted in this regard. The first is the stadium named after our great footballer Gheorghe Hagi, in Constanța. It is a project of almost 100 million euros, 18,000 seats. The second stadium is named Nicolae Dobrin, in honor of this exceptional Romanian footballer. The stadium in Pitesti will cost around 75 million euros and will have 15,200 seats”, said Ciolacu at the beginning of the Government meeting.

“The green light for the most modern stadium in the country, in Pitesti! Marcel Ciolacu’s government approved today a Memorandum that gives the green light to start the construction of the new “Nicolae Dobrin” stadium in Trivale! I am proud to be part of the Government that will make this major investment for the municipality of Pitesti! I am proud to be part of a high-performing team that builds in Argeş! The city that gave the country and the world the incomparable Dobrin deserves to have an international level arena! Congratulations to Mayor Cristian Gentea who, together with his team, managed to turn into reality a dream of hundreds of thousands of supporters of the FC Argeş team from the county and the country”, the Minister of Labor, Simona Bucura-Oprescu, also wrote on Facebook.

She added that the new stadium will have over 15,000 seats and “will not only mean the most modern arena in the country, but also a major urban regeneration investment in the Trivale area”.

“With a UEFA 4 certification, the stadium will be eligible to host international football competitions at the highest level. All stands will be covered. The municipality of Pitesti has approximately 37,000 children and students and, traditionally, represents a real selection base for future champions. It is to be welcomed, therefore, that the Children’s and Junior Center of FC Argeş will be set up within the future sports complex. The value of the investment is 372,856,532 lei including VAT, most of the financing being supported by the state budget”, added Bucura-Oprescu.

Also, the prime minister announced at the beginning of the Government meeting that a stadium will be built in Constanța that will bear the name of the well-known footballer Gheorghe Hagi.
