Tony Da Silva (43), his trainer Poli Iasi, sent a desperate message to his players ahead of the final two games of this season. They are the Iashians last in the Superligawith 21 points, tied with Dinamo.

The former CFR player became the coach of Iasi at the beginning of April, but the team did not recover under his command. He achieved only one win in 5 matches, a draw and 3 failures, and the Lusitanian announced that he is willing to give up all the wages he is due to receive.

Tony Da Silva, desperate gesture to save Poli Iași from relegation: “The players should share my money”

“I am willing to give up my salary from Poli Iasi, just to save the team. I also told the management, I also told the players, in the dressing room. I don’t take a single euro from Poli Iași, I don’t take a penny. Let my wages go to the players and share the money. But let’s save ourselves.

I didn’t come here for the money. I hope the boys appreciate this gesture. I make this promise. I swear on my child that I don’t take any money. I came to help the Poli Iasi team.

They gave me confidence and with all my heart I want to help the team to save itself. I hope that my boys will give everything on the field to win the remaining two games”, said Tony Da Silva, for radiohit.ro.

Poli has two more games to play this season, if they don’t get a play-off spot. He will travel to Hermannstadt’s field and receive a visit from Petrolul.

Tony Da Silva is willing to continue at Poli Iași and in League 2: “I will continue if I am offered”

The Portuguese coach explained that, in the most unpleasant scenario, the one in which Iași will be relegated, he will want to stay and try to come back from the first season in the Superliga. Management will have the final say at that time.

“I wanted to return to Romania to give back to Romania what it gave to me. I don’t spit in the plate I ate in. I have a debt to Romania, I was the first ambassador of this country. And I didn’t come here for money, I gave up many things for myself and my family to come to Iasi.

Honestly, I don’t know what will happen, but if the management proposes that I continue, if we relegate, although I say no, I will continue. It won’t be a money problem.

I slept for an hour after the match with UTA. I rewatched the game three times that night. The players must play for themselves, but also for the Iasi supporters. Salaries are not very high in Romania, life is hard. Maybe one doesn’t eat that day to come get a ticket to the game. We don’t have Messi and Ronaldo in the team, the star of the team is Poli Iasi”, added Tony, for the quoted source.
